Behind the Counter: A Very Personal Experience of Life at a UK Café

They say the UK is the country where people would love a cuppa afternoon tea.

Time’s changed now.

Tea retained its rank. However, the Britisher has now learned to add coffee to their beverage preferences almost regularly. Had that not been the phenomenon, then we might not have discovered coffee shops in Salford to have throngs of visitors coming in filling the coffee shops with a buzz and brew.

Luckily, we are one of them.

We are a couple running our coffee shop in Salford for a long time. We are known for our speciality coffee from Salford Rosters, which has been amazing for coffee (and tea) lovers for years.

In this post, we want to give you a sneak peek at not only what it feels like to run our cafe for a day, but also what we learn in doing so.

It’s More than Just a Cuppa Joe

Running a coffee shop in Salford definitely creates a ‘coffee culture’. Before we go on speaking about that culture, we might want to tell you a little about how coffee entered British life as a common drink:

  • It happened because of the mass production of coffee in the 90s.

  • People started discovering a cup of Joe as a common drink because of the UK’s coffeehouse culture.

  • Cafes in the UK come with snacks and delicacies such as breakfast, protein meals, or protein snacks.

  • Coffee also worked its way as a dessert option, which helped its ‘taste’ spread in the population.

  • Surveys have found that Britishers might enjoy tea indoors, but coffee is one of the leading drinks they prefer outside.

All these reasons might not get you searching for a coffee shop near me now in Salford.

Our coffee place sees many gym goers, fitness enthusiasts, and food experts for a variety of reasons. One of them is the proffee.

If you have been social enough, then you might have found the presence of proffee in recent trends. It started with Tik Tok and then people started putting protein powder in their coffee.

We took this delicacy a step further by adding the right protein with our special Salford Roast.

Now, we see more and more gymgoers, fitness professionals, and even dieticians filling the air with our coffee shop with a trendy buzz about proffee.

It’s nice to see strangers with the same interests engage and talk about coffee. There are instances when we join them in their conversations.

Thanks to our coffee shop’s services, speciality coffee blends, snacks, and more, we have garnered quite a reputation in this field.

Speaking of quality drinks in this football season, who doesn’t want a pint of beer or two with the game? Luckily, you can get that in our coffee shop too. Just remind yourself to drink moderately and enjoy the game.

The First Brew of the Day

Generally, one of us heads to the coffee shop in the early morning. This time, it’s a bit chill in the air. In Winters, we prefer opening our shop a little late. However, for the most part of the year, it feels good to head to the coffee shop in the early mornings, particularly in the Spring and Summer.

Entering the shop, my first job is to check for things that need a little tidying up. Therefore, I do the cleaning and sanitation first. With all that done and my mind at ease, I switch on the brewing machines, the lights, and all that’s electronic.

The coffee shop is officially open now!

Prepping up the Menu

Time to get to the menu part!

Although we offer a variety of coffee versions and snacks, we are known as a coffee shop. Therefore, I really don’t want to miss filling up the coffee machines with the roasted coffee beans from Salford Roastery.

We don’t like monotony to serve customers. This is why we generally prefer to alter our snack options. Whether it’s protein balls or snack items such as a high-protein breakfast, we prefer checking the items we have in store, ordering more if needed, and prepping up the menu so that we can offer you a new experience every time.

It’s Great to See Customers Thronging in

Just as I start to prepare coffee and the menu, I see people, still wrapped in that morning drowsiness or that fatigue from working out at the gym too long, to enter our cafe.

Trust me; this is where I feel empathy when serving them quickly with food and drinks. It’s a virtue we all have.

Perhaps, this is the time many searches for a coffee shop near me in Salford as well and we receive quite a few to-go orders online. This keeps on throughout the day.

Slowly, the day keeps rolling on with more numbers of active and enthusiastic customers. My partner takes over at midday so that I can refresh myself to come back in the late afternoon or early evening.

The Coffee Shop in the Late Hours

We’re not going to lie. We do get tired as the sun goes down.

However, the smell of coffee and an increasing number of customers keep us engaged.

We receive waves of fitness professionals in the morning and the late afternoons. However, people from other professions or interests such as teachers and professors, the friendly introvert next door, the chap with unparalleled tech knowledge, the exhausted executive, the silent entrepreneur, and more keep on booking seats and ordering coffee till we decide to close.

Time to Rest

Every single day is a new opportunity to learn…at least this is what we believe in.

Our coffee, proffee, protein snacks, and more do not attract customers by taste, but also by the culture we are successful in bringing.

If you’re wondering where to visit a coffee shop close to me at Salford, then give us the chance to serve you.

P.S.: Bring your dog too.
